Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
