The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate 51 million watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this represents the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

The full seven-match series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.
